Semler Residence is closed due to extensive reconstruction

The world-famous architect Adolf Loos designed several residential interiors at the beginning of the 20th century in Pilsen. Today, three of those residential interiors are accessible to visitors during two guided tours. These guided tours take place every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Until May 2018, it was also possible to visit the fourth building – the Semler Residence (at 110 Klatovska Street, Pilsen). However, this residence is now closed due to the planned extensive reconstruction.

The Gallery of West Bohemia in Pilsen plans to reopen the Semler Residence in 2021. While until recently, only one part of the Oskar Semler's original apartment was accessible during the programme of the guided tours, after the reconstruction it will be possible to see the entire reconstructed interior. The renovation of the Semler Residence includes, among other things, the restoration of original rare natural materials and replicas of the original furniture. Within the reconstructed object there should be a visitors’ centre and a Loos Cafe. Also, the exterior of the Semler Residence at 110 Klatovska Street is planned for renovation.
