The first apartment in Pilsen which was designed by Adolf Loos used to be in the Neo-Renaissance house of Vilém and Marta Hirsch. In 1907, Adolf Loos designed a luxurious apartment for this newly-married couple which took up the entire first floor of the house. Twenty years later, Loos had extended the apartment even more and he added a small extension to the porch. Moreover, on the second floor he also designed a youth apartment for Richard Hirsch, the son of Vilém and Marta. Unfortunately, of the original flat on the first floor only a few fragments were preserved. However, almost complete bedroom of Richard from 1927 was preserved including the characteristic built-in wardrobes. Loos used a combination of green-painted wardrobe frames with orient-themed wallpaper on the wardrobe door. In 2015, the original furniture was completely restored. Equipment of the adjoining salon was taken away by a private collector in the 1980s and it is now installed in new premises in Prague. Interestingly, there are two rare portraits of Vilém and Marta Hirsch painted by Oskar Kokoschka, which are now part of the gallery collections in Berlin and New York.
